The incredible never ending drive from New Mexico to Louisiana.
We got out on time for our early departure goal and set off across the country. Greg chose this little road through the mountains and Lincoln National Forest. The forest was quite picturesque. All camping areas and trails through the forest are closed due to extreme fire risk. We also went through more back highways through part of New Mexico and Texas. There were definitely no more mountains, as the terrain changed to flat and brown. Saw a cool dust devil cross the road. We see those from time to time.
Made two of the longest stops ever during this trip for refueling—for the RV and for the family. Seriously wondered if that second one had transported me to the Twilight Zone.
Add in the construction zones and the accidents along the interstate, we managed to take what was a long 12 hour drive day and make it into a 15 hour extravaganza. We made it. Don’t know that I have much to report other than Greg killed all my cows in the cow game, and now I only have like 4—two moms and their babies.
