So we’re off on the great exploration trip 2022, or as some might refer to it, our Flatt family summer vacation. The goal is to finish visiting the last four states of the lower 48. Way back when we purchased our first RV, we set the goal of visiting the 48 before Audrey left for college. In order for a state to “count”, we have to spend at least one night there in the RV and see something of note. If you’ve read about our vacation travels before, you know that means anything from the World’s Second Largest Wooden Nickle, to Car Henge, to Mt. Rushmore.
This summer trip was the second time we set out flying our missing man formation. Actually, we thought the first half of the trip would just be Audrey, Greg, and Melissa, but in a surprise (and fortunate) turn of events, Ryan was able to join us at the last minute. Gillian will be with us for week 2, but sadly, Elizabeth was not able to take time away from work.
As often with Day 1, there is very little to report. Basically, we pick our farthest overnight destination, and aim for it, stopping as needed along the way. Today, Nashville to Oklahoma. We drove. We arrived after dark. It’s all up from here!
