Driving to Williams, Arizona on the South rim of the Grand Canyon today. I’m hoping Greg will have some thoughts to supplement this entry. Basically, for these drive days, it reiterates that the United States is a vast country. It also continues to give visualization and authentication to all of the song lyrics, novels, and poems that describe all of these beautiful and varied areas. The vastness of the prairies. The tumbleweeds. The Ponderosa Pine forests and the sagebrush. I am continually amazed by the explorers who crossed all of these areas on foot, horseback, and wagons, and those who made this area their home. It is a beautiful and often unforgiving terrain.
We pulled in with time to have dinner at an actual restaurant. We chose the Red Raven in downtown Williams on Route 66. It was very good, and has the best dessert I’ve had in quite awhile. So good, in fact, we were compelled to order 3 to go. They also turned us on to Blueberry Spaceship (a blueberry cider). We had to find some of that to go, too! After dinner, we took a quick stroll through historic Williams with its picturesque shops. A lovely evening!
